Veszprém City Mixed Choir

The choir was founded in 1956. Under the leadership of István Zámbó, it has won first prizes in numerous competitions and has achieved continuous professional success. Ágnes Erdélyi took over the choir in 1989, and the success story has continued regularly at national and international events, Europa Cantat events and the Kodály Days in Galánta. The Csokonai Community, Pro Urbe Veszprém and Gizella Award-winning choir was awarded the "Concert Choir" certificate in 2019. The repertoire includes a cappella gems as well as oratorios.

The choir is supported by Veszprém to carry out a major artistic activity. It represents the musical culture of Hungary during its concert tours in Europe, is an integral part of the musical life of Veszprém, and organises the annual Meeting of Hungarian Choirs in addition to the traditional Requiem and Christmas concerts. It also pays great attention to the musical education of future generations, especially the youth choir. The motto of the choir family is: "We all believe that life cannot be complete without music, and that it is worth nothing. We want to instil this awareness in all those who have no idea of the beauty that lies in the fairy garden of music".
